Final

This is my final project for Digital Toolbox. It may seem a bit unorthodox to have an out of place and vulgar video-game commentary. But, if you can overcome that hurdle there is a lot of nuance when it came to producing this video. A lot of things I learned in class and on my own have been implemented into the video.

For instance, the name “Yoskimo” that appears the instant the video starts depicts a stylized logo that was made from scratch. The process of producing this peculiar logo started on Photoshop. I was just doodling on my Wacom and was going for something odd and inconstant to stand out in order to grasp peoples attentions. The final step to this process was finalizing the sketch on Adobe Illustrator due to the fact the quality for making logos on this application is very seamless and more vector oriented unlike Photoshop.

The commentary that can be heard throughout the video has been recorded on a Blue Yeti Microphone on the application audacity. Around 6:22 in the video, you can hear that the vocals have been distorted and modified in post. The reason I chose to implement this effect was to give the audience the illusion that they can hear my subconscious. In addition, it can also be see as some form of flash-forward in order to inform the audience to the events that happened; like some sort of story telling. The manipulation in my vocals have been included in the video to heighten the comedic effect.

Regarding the video editing portion of the project, the finalized video and all of the effects that can be seen have been done on Adobe Premiere. The things done in the video are not things that are insanely advance and can be done in the matter of hours depending on your level of patience. Throughout the video you can see manipulations with cropping, zoom-ins (with key-framed motions), color balance, sharpening, brightness and contrasting, etc. The effects that were utilized have purpose and was not used willy nilly. For instance, the color balancing, sharpening of the image, and the adjustments in the brightness and contrast have all been implemented into the video in order to give the audience a beautiful looking video. Without all of those effects on the video the colors looked washed out and gives the zone of something that is unfinished. On the other hand, the cropping and zoom-in that are actively spliced in the video are there in order to make the audience feel like there are dimensions in the video. What I mean by this is that it does not feel flat, there is a sense of life and there is active movement to keep the audience engaged throughout the viewing.
